Rehs Contemporary is proud to work side by side with the Art Renewal Center* as we present ARC Select; a group exhibition featuring the works of 6 hand-picked artists from ARC's annual Salon. Our inaugural ARC Select show features a diverse roster of contemporary realist artists who demonstrate superior technical skills, utilizing techniques reminiscent of 19th Century masters while remaining relevant to contemporary aesthetics. While each artist has their own style, theme and subject, the works showcase their immense talent and the dedication each has to their craft.

The featured artists include the world renowned Joseph McGurl, known for his masterful plein-air landscapes which exemplify the use of light, while incorporating tireless attention to detail. Kari Tirrell, a self-taught artist known for her quirky still lives and mesmerizing toy jumbles. Richard Hall, a brilliant visual story-teller whose work incorporates twists of humor and whimsy. The Haitian artist Philippe Attie's meticulously crafted figure paintings juxtaposed against a playful abstraction. Walter Rane's investigations of the human form and the relationship with their environment and atmosphere; evoking ephemeral moments of spiritual interactions captured on canvas. Along with Duffy Sheridan, an artist whose tireless exploration has empowered him to reveal and convey the true subtleties of human expression.

According to Lance Rehs, co-director of Rehs Contemporary Galleries, "The concept of this year’s show, the inaugural exhibit of the series, is to reflect the overall scope of representational art. This will be a well rounded show, showcasing Figurative, Landscape and Still life works while capturing a range of artists at various points in their careers. Visitors will be exposed to a broad range of academic art some hard edge, some a bit softer, some incorporating abstract or gestural elements, etc. It is time to realize that contemporary art is not old or stuffy. These immensely talented artists deserve our respect and admiration."

The ARC Select Opening Event is scheduled for October 22nd and all of the works will remain on display through November 18th at Rehs Contemporary Galleries located at 5 East 57th Street, New York, NY 10022. The event is open to all artists, collectors and enthusiasts alike to join in a celebration of some of today's finest realist artists.

Rehs Contemporary Galleries, Inc. began as a new venture for Rehs Galleries in 1987. With the gallery’s foundation in classical 19th Century academic art, Rehs CGI provides a platform for artists who create original works using traditional techniques; works that demonstrate an artist’s superior technical skills and classical training. The gallery strives to maintain the integrity and quality of art that Rehs Galleries, Inc. is known for and has always been proud to sell.

The Art Renewal Center® was founded in 1999 for the advancement of traditional and contemporary representational art. As one of the Internet's leading art resources, the ARC has become a central hub for the promotion of Contemporary Realism (Post-Contemporary Art) and the resurgence of skill-based training in the visual arts. In addition to our daily blogs and weekly newsletter, the International ARC Salon Competition, dedicated to realist artists, is the largest and most prestigious in the USA and perhaps the world. Other features include the ARC's annual scholarship competition that distributes $30,000 each year to students who attend ARC Approved schools, dozens of articles, essays and entire books that can be read online, both historical and contemporary. The ARC museum contains images by over 7,000 of the greatest artists in history with over 80,000 images, many at high-resolution, including a growing number of 21st century artists in our Living Master and Artist's Gallery.
